  • Lighting Analysis

I would like to see a Daylighting Analysis kit within VRay to evaluate designs according to US Green Building Council's LEED system, or any other foreign countries evaluations systems.
This past year I've had to drop using VRay 3 times already and turn to Mental Ray (in 3dsMax) to perform this task requested by owners. I see this type of analysis becoming even more popular in the future...and I would rather stick with VRay than another rendering engine.
    Thanks.

Yep. This would be nice. As Max stands at the moment, it would be nice for a third party to offer LEED so the decision of which version of max to choose becomes moot.

V-Ray fully supports the 3ds Max Lighting Analysis Overlay feature. What is missing is essentially an equivalent to the Light Meter and CIE sky models (for extrerior simulations). Both of these are planned for version 2.0.

        Vray Lighting Analysis & Promaterials

The Promaterials issues is just as big an issue - right now...I too have had to abandon Vray in order to use Promaterials in Mental Ray, not what I want to do but Promaterial render Black in Vray - Is there a solution for this problem?

        thanks, rob

It's in the works and we'll get there quite soon.

so this means vray + max lighting analysis is still a no go?

Which part of the above discussion says that?

nonetheless my interpertation is that it will work in a future release...

The Lighting Analysis overlay feature works already, since SP2.

its working, i was just testing this last night, and when using vrayframebuffer the process was not so clear...to me that is

but i just mocked up a small test and it works!

                      thanx vlado

It will work with the 3ds Max frame buffer, yes.

i am testing this while doing other things, and being a noob as i am , i am trying to get this to work, and although i can get the Lighting Analysis Image Overlay to work, the light meter i can't...
                          is it me?

The light meter is hard-coded to work with mental ray only.

                              phew...
                              not that dumb, heim?

jokes aside, will we be able to use a vray lightmeter, or wil i have to satisfy myself with the image overlay?
