  • Grace Period

A Grace period of e.g. 24 hours or so would be great!
Today, I have forgotten our VRay Dongle at home. And now I am in the office and would
be happy to have a VRay grace period available!

I think it has been discussed already. Unfortunately, this would provide a loophole for the crackers to make a "24hours all time" grace period of the full version.

I've forgotten my dongle a few times too. Once it didn't matter so much, the other time I had to get a taxi home and back to work!

You could also try to set up the license over the internet, using some VPN like Hamachi.

yeah, i've already done that successfully. just set the hamachi IP of the computer where the dongle is plugged in as the secondary license server address.

the computer with the dongle has to be running of course. mine is running 24/7 anyway, but it could probably even be waked up from the internet, with WOL. i only tried that on local LAN tough.

the free hamachi can run as a system service now, which makes it really useful. (no need to log-in, just boot)

I see. That's indeed a good reason to keep this feature of the to do list. Though it's a pity.

Well - better not. I am a noob in terms of computer/network admin things!!! And I do not run my machine at home for 24/7. Neither does my workstation at the office.

Hamachi practically requires no set up at all. It just needs to be installed on each computer, then create a group and add the 2 computers and that's it. It treats the computers as if they where in the same network. Very simple, but the server computer does need to be on. I leave mine on 24/7 too, so it works for me
