  • Vray Dirt: Work with Displacement?

The Vray Dirt Map has a Work With Transparency that is very cool. How about a Work with Displacment option that will shade the Occluded Color into the "new" nooks and crannys created by the displacement map? I was trying to increase the definition of a stone wall - sort of trying to discolor the "mortar" a little, if you will.

I was using the Vray Dirt in the Diffuse map slot, and adding the Stone Wall map in the Occluded Color map slot in Vray Dirt and didn't see anything changing there.

Or perhaps there is another way to do this that is escaping me -- if so, please enlighten!

    Thanks very much,

    -Alan

The way you are using the dirt map will not make any changes to the tex [as you stated]

You need to use a Vray Comp map

Choose VrayComp tex from map browser [For your diffuse]
--Put your rock bitmap into the first slot
--Put vray Dirt into the second slot
    --Change mode to 'MULTIPLY'

    It's that easy!!

    Cheers

      Beautiful! Thanks very much, 3DMK!

This forum reminds me of another one I once knew, many years ago...

Glad it's working for you now. For the record vray dirt does work just fine with displacement, no need for any checkbox.
