  • Gpu render

    Hi all,
I see that new software in the market are usign GPU power.
I think it will be a good idea to implement a feature to use this power for GI or LC o Brute force calculation ( i would like to choose cpu power, gpu power or cpu+gpu power as FRY render will do).

not a Vray RT but "INSIDE VRAY" so we can use our CPU+GPU power togheter.
I think this is the future and that Chaos have to develope this feature VERY QUICK for not to lose clients.

    regards

    i agree
i think maybe they have been waiting for openCL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCL

but i really hope this will be implemented in the next few months, for myself i see it as the most important aspect ..

you can already do gpu rendering with a fractal program called tacitus

its quite amazing, millions of polygons (it looks like)

    cpu render takes 20minutes

    gpu render: 2 seconds

    it is quite a shock

i dont want to update my computer every year i want to use GPU!!!!!!!!!!!

V-Ray RT is V-Ray; and if its GPU version gives you faster and better results than the production renderer, wouldn't it be still useful?

and when you think it will come ?? my ATI is hotter to use that GPU version of vray RT ......

YES, I buy VrayRT ( 1 licence) but it's not "Inside" vray.

I mean....I cannot have RT without buying Vray. so price= RT+ VRAY. It could be interesting use the normal version of Vray with this new feature and GPU power. this is my WISH

Oh, to use both cpu and gpu while rendering in non-rt v-ray...I wish.

why can it not be possible?

                gpu is 1000000000000x faster

surely this is more interesting than continuing a cpu approach

It may be more interesting, but not necessarily successful Right now, the GPU is really only good for unbiased rendering, and even this is with limitations as to the complexity of lighting and materials (not to mention limited GPU memory). Granted, this will change, but for the time being, you will mostly see brute-force unbiased renderers.

ok, no vray gpu rendering this year

                    but i just read this

"Maxwell Render, Indigo, and a few others are able to do unbiased rendering, and quite frankly, they produce beautiful renders."
                    http://renderspud.blogspot.com/2006/...rendering.html

"Unbiased renders usually have very few settings and dials to tweak, since everything works like a real-world camera where, you only focus on things like exposure, f-stop, shutter speed etc."

                    http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/re...nderers-2.html

ok, i understand it alil better now

i will gladly accept vray-RT with gpu support if it can save my images on disk

Of course it can save images to disk...

great'! it would of course also be great if all materials are supported etc. but im sure ur on it!

hey, can you tell us, when can we test a first beta?

I tried Arion GPU RENDER and i have to say that is amazing.fast and precise, no noise.....10 minute good renders.

I pray for a GPU version of VrayRT very soon because the other software houses are going very fast for this way.

I hope when it is available as a GPU version that it can display SSS, displacement and proxies. I don't think any of these other engines can show that yet. I would settle for the CPU version of RT showing that kind of information. I can guess pretty well at lighting and materials but seeing proxies and displacement is not as easy to visualize in your head and literally takes longer to render. Why are the trickiest things the hardest to implement? Did I just answer that question?

The next update for V-Ray RT (which is still CPU only) includes support for V-Ray proxy objects (it can also render displacement, but I'm not sure we will have time to add it - it's coming quite soon). It also includes a version of the light cache which helps it to clean the noise a lot faster.

                              Best regards,
