  • Maxscript installer/Uninstaller for Vray

Vlado, it would be brilliant if we could have a maxscript for installing/uninstaiing vray, as then we could run a job over backburner with a pre-render script to install the latest version of vray automatically.

This would work assuming all that is required is for folders to be created and files to be copied say from a network location available to all the machines. Would be a massive time saver for upgrading the farm!

I doubt such a thing is down to chaos, and that it'd even work if it was generalised.
So many things are different from network setup to network setup, and from company to company...

Hm, the installer requires 3ds Max to be closed (it overwrites some files like vray.dll, which are locked for modification while 3ds Max is running), so even though you can run the installer without a GUI (though the MaxScript DOS command stuff), it won't work.

      Best regards,
      Vlado

maybe you can use a batch-file and execute it via the backburner command line control (cmdjob.exe).
