  • See Caustics being Calced in VFB like IRMap and LightCache

    Well like the title says.
    Would be nice to see the calculation happening in the frame buffer.
    Kind Regards,

    From the MaxScript listener, you can do
    Code:
    renderers.current.caustics_showCalcPhase=true
    although it does something slightly different. It will show you the caustics in the VFB as they are calculated, but it will also use this for the final rendering. If you wish you can save the caustics map to disc and then re-render it normally.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      vlado, you once told us, that photon mapped caustics kind of obsolete way of creating such effect. Any news on on what you've planned ?
      I just can't seem to trust myself
      So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

        Also, doesn't that method only render directly visible caustics - not refracted/reflected?

          It will render reflected/refracted caustics just fine, but they will be calculated in the regular way with interpolation.
