  • VrayMtlID - automatic ID

In the studio, i'm using lightwave+kray and i noticed that, when adding the mtlID channel to the rendered image, i don't need to manually assign an ID to each material because they're added automatically by the render engine.

I wonder to see a feature like this into vray too

Unfortunately it is 3ds Max that assigns the IDs, not V-Ray. It is not too hard to write a MaxScript that assigns consequtive IDs to all materials in the scene.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

EDIT: just re-read and realized he was asking about a different RE, not the Multimatte. Sorry

Thanks for replies guys, i'm gonna try this script peter

I tried to use soulbourn script too but it seems to not work so good..maybe it was my fault, btw.

I thought the ID into the vraymtl slot was assigned by the render engine, not by max

          Cheers,
          Thomas
