  • VrayDistanceTex: more option

    Testing the fake booleans suggested by Vlado, I've investigated the VrayDistanceTex feature.

    I've found that it could be good to add some options and in particular these:

    - texmap control for distance
    - distribution and falloff controls both number and texmap.

    Is it possible??

    It could help, for example, to have secondary noise in the displaced geometry, indipendently from the geometry of the "displacer".
    For example, if you think to a character that walk into the snow, when the foot sinks, the edge of the footprint on the snow it's not regular and it doesn't follow exactly the foot shape.

      I've seen that with VrayDistanceTex has a linear falloff and what I'm asking is a way to modify this falloff as it happens with VrayDirt with the distribution and falloff controls.

      Is it more clear?

      I'm thinking that another good thing should be a control for the falloff similar to the curve editor of the color map for the standard bitmap texture.

        You can always pipe the VRayDistanceTex texture through an Output map and adjust the output curves there.

            Great tips but i've some new wishes about dist texture

            -The hability to disturb the "shape" like if we add noise, to "break" the straighten effect from some shapes like square or other boxes.
            - Multiple distance reaction : one for all, and the hability to change that from near, far or inside...
            - Vraydisplacement mod should react with that if we want to modify the reacting geometrie
            - there is some artifact on angular shapes, like arrow for example
            -Some problem on overlapped shapes...

            Thanks in all, it is a really great texture in all! With that, it could be a must!
