  • link imap settings to resolution

hows about a checkbox to link the min and max imap settings to the image resolution? in certain circumstances, like the job im on.. if the imap is too detailed i get blotches around specific objects, but if its too big (i dont need detail as im using detail enhancement) i get errors on other bits of geometry. so i have to try to keep the samples the same size relative to the image.

ive got it looking good now, but when i crank up the resolution, i have to adjust the imap to compensate.

a little maths solves it but a checkbox would be even easier.

Sounds like a good idea. I must admit I rarely consider changing the irmap for half or full resolution renders. What is the typical 'maths' that I should use to work it out?

quite simple : Each time the resolution doubles, you can lower by 1 the Min and max values (in theory):
if you've -4-1 at 640*480, then you can use -5-2 at 1280*960, and -6-3 at 2560*1920, and so on.
You can also double the DE radius (if screen mode) in the same way (i'm not absolutely sure, need confirmation about that)
So if you've 30pixels radius at 640*480, then you can use 60pixels at 1280*960, and 120pixels at 2560*1920. in fact 1.5 multiplication works well.
