    Common problem is to achieve detailed shadows from small obiects (i.e. table legs on floor), in finalrender I solved that by more density of samples only on floor that slow rendertime olny bit.
    I think it is very efective approach, need it in Vray

    do a blowup render with i think incremental add to irradiance map on the parts that you need to be detailed after calcing ur normal irrad map.

    I believe that was the quicky solution that got suggested once before, not sure tho, will look around.
    5 years and counting.

      simply turn up your min/max to get detail in small areas and reduce the interpreted samples setting to decrease the amount of sample bluring.
