  • VrayNoiseRemover

    hello vlado

because of the whole noise discussion I thought chaosgroup could write a noise remover tool. I mean you guys knows from where it comes and how the noise is generated.

    this would be great!

Well, it looks like newer versions of Nuke include a pretty good noise remover; from what I understand, it can analyze a static noise pattern (like when you turn on the "time independent" option for the DMC sampler) and use that to improve the noise reduction for animations. At least this is what I'm told, I haven't actually tried it myself, so I could be wrong. Further on, you could split the render in elements, and apply the noise reduction only on the actual noisy components (GI or area lights or whatever), and then put together the final image.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

nuke has this!? damn, i always thought of this as fairy tales. i've used slights blurs on render elements to kill some noise at times, but it mostly does more damage than good.

too bad i am confined to composite or after effects, some smart blur with edge detection or something might be nice, there is nothing like this for these i suppose?
