  • Vray support for HAIRFARM, a must!!

    Hi there,

Since hair and fur in max suck, it is very needed that Vray support Hairfarm wich is 50 times better then hair and fur in most case, and Cem the developper is ready to cooperate to get it work perfectely with Vray.

    That would be ace!

<shrug> All I need from them is an SDK to access the hair information. In any case, there are other good hair solutions as well. The next service pack for V-Ray will have some surprises with regards to hair rendering (although nothing to do with hairfarm and only partly with hair&fur).

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Now you see you can't go and make people all excited like that and wait months and months for the service pack. What's the ETA fro this?
      Kind Regards,

It looks to be more like the start of December for the time being; we won't make it for November.

Ok great I will forward information to Cem for hairfarm support. And wich are the other hair solutions that are good? I have tried hair fx, hair and fur for max, and it don't compare with hairfarm to me, I don't know if there is some other plugins availiable out there.

I would like to be on the beta testing of that service pack if possible, because I'm rendering hairs these days for a character we want to include in our scene. you can have a look at my portfolio here and let me know if you'r interested to get me inboard for this : http://bigguns.cgsociety.org/gallery/

Is there any improvement of rendering performance?
It is hopeful of special antialiasing and special self shadowing and AO to Hair/ Fur.

                      But it is interesting update.
                      It is pleasure.

                        Yes.

For the moment, no. The DMC sampler does a pretty good job out of it; there are VRayShadowMaps which work fine in most cases; and AO looks ugly on hair, especially light hair (although you can do it, if you like).

                        Best regards,
                        Vlado

Well, the next service pack is almost released now (builds are uploading on the server), so if you can wait a few days, you can get them from our website. Otherwise, email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com

                            Best regards,
