  • Global Override GI material

I would like to have a global override GI material where you can exclude objects maybe by layers or if they have transparency....for interiors this feature could work very well.
I know there is an option to override the all the materials but having something like that you don't have to render the scene twice if you want to re-use the GI calculation.

Both the VrayOverrideMtl and the VrayMtlWrapper have GI override capabilities. Do these not help you with your specific goal? Using the VrayWrapperMtl, for example, you could instance a glass material in as the base material, then uncheck the Generate GI box. Have you already tried something like this?

the idea is actually don't use those because now you would have to convert all the materials, with a global GI override...your workflow still the same but if you need to tweak the GI a bit you could use it without problems and extra work....playing with the right balance of light takes some time but at the same time I don't want to go for hundreds of materials to do a test.
