  • 'binding' max material to vrayproxy

Our assets (models and textures) drive has been expanding for well over 10 years now. Its getting cluttered! Not the most logical file structure and there are lots of duplicates here there and everywhere.

We are using vrayproxies more and more, and what I find to be a real pain in the backside is not having the max texture (multi-sub more often than not) saved as part of the vrayproxy. Can there be an option to have the material save with the vrayproxy?
    Kind Regards,
    Richard Birket

I stopped using vrayproxy, because they are not really needed anymore with scattering plugins.
anyway, you can use a max file with a material applied to the proxy and merge/xref it.

i use the merge method. takes a 1 time setup for the max file which would include the original model (with multiple parts), the model compressed down to 1 editable poly object, and a proxy object. this way ive still got my choices in that file for what i want to merge into my work scenes
