  • V-Ray mesh export as a rate

    Hi Vlado,

    sometime, when we make some proxy, I select 10 or 20 or 30 objects in the same time. Then I create a proxy.
    But, the "problem" is that, sometime, some proxy has 1000 poly, other 10.000
    If I select all in the same time, and I insert "Face in preview" for example = 1.000
    in the low poly object I see, in the preview, the entire object. In the 10.000 poly object, the 10%
    It would be nice add the opportunity to set the "rate", instead the final polycount.
    In this example, set 10% give me the same result for the high model, but not for the low.
    The solution, for now, is to select by hand all the low poly obj and insert a different "Face in preview" number.

    Thanks =)

    And, also, if it's possible add the possibility to have more poly in "Face in preview" on the bottom, or on the top, or left, or right.
    For example, the trees. Trees have more poly on the top (foliage)
    With the automatic proxy creation, usually, Proxy trees doesn't have poly on the bottom, or only a few.
    So, it's a little difficult understand there the tree base is.
    If V-Ray can creates more poly on the bottom automatically, this problem could be solved =)

      Hm, the % could be easier to implement; the other thing is more complicated - we would need to consider the size of the individual triangles or something like that...

      Best regards,
      Vlado

          I'd say you could do this with a temporary mesh select or turn to poly put on to objects so you could count their faces, then export accordingly via maxscript?
