Do not override option for vray materials

It would be great to see this feature. It would offer much more control than the exclude list can provide when working with multi sub materials....

yeah agree with that, would be great to have a checkbox in the material itself or material option in the override exclude menu. Or maybe even just a global checkbox to exclude overide for any materials which have any transparency or are 2 sided, that would speed up test renderings for complex interiors no end.

I was thinking vray could use the material ID buffer number. It would be realty handy for multi sub mats.

I don't know; I haven't yet thought of a way to implement this for multi/sub-object materials.
