  • save GI from VFB

It would be very handy if there was a way to save the GI directly from the VFB.
I am thinking that it would be most handy for large still images through backburner so you dont have to re calculate the GI if there is another problem (like a time out)

Do you mean the irradiance map? How would that be different than saving from the Render Setup dialog?

    Best regards,

Yeah the irradiance and light cache.
It would be different from saving from the render setup if you forget (or are too lazy) to set it up

You don't have to set anything up (except for checking "Don't delete", but that would have to be done with a VFB-approach as well). Just click the "Save" (for the irradiance map) and the "Save to file" (for the LC) buttons after the rendering.

That is true if you are rendering locally.
If you render through backburner and dont have that activate the GI goes to waste if you forget to set it up

Hm, not sure how that will work; the VFB will go away as soon as the rendering is finished, no? So even if we add this, you'll have to login to the machine, pray that the rendering is not finished, and press the save GI button?

            Best regards,
            Vlado

That is exactly what I do now. Log in and check the render and then if there are missing bitmaps or something else cancel the render and fix it up and resend it.
So being able to save the GI before cancelling would be a time saver
