Now sins my early hapiness over fast radiosity from blue skylight has come to rest. I feel more and more constraind by the shortcomings of the unfinished software. I allso wonder if the final product is more aimed to viz than effect and animationwork. Am I in the wrong forum here? I realy think you are doing a great job and the parts that work do work great, but I would like more and continous info-updates on the development of the software I bought a long time ago. I don´t want small candie updates. I wand a solid finished product and a feature-list so that I know what I´m waiting for.

Yes I know. I´m in a bad mood today.

yeah. id say you are. what do you think you have been using all this time? a beta? vray has been a finished product for quite some time now. As for arch viz industry being its only use look around some more. there are quite a few movies done with vray. stretching back as far as the only beta days when they did a shot on reign of fire. 1.1 is a major update but thats what it is...an update. not a final on an unfinished product because vray is already a finished product since 1.0

I would like to see a more "polished" product too, right now there is quite a few unpolished corners that everyone is complaining about, and have been complaining about for over a year. Lets hope this change after 1.1 is out and they start polishing.

well. 1.09.03m is an update to 1.0. when 1.0 came out it was a far better package to me than some of the others ive used. and vlado has been kind enough to let us in on testing it our as he made progress towards 1.1.
basically 1.1 is the equivelent to fR going from stage0 to stage 1. We got to have fun with all the updates. poor fR people had nothing really between 0 and 1. your just getting your mind confused with numbers. Who cares if we jumped only 0.1 since 1.0. its just a number. Sure vray has a few rough edges here and there. but im still loving it.

after testing all three, vray/FR/Brazil for a few months....I think vray is probably the most polished out there.......
yeah, there are som rough spots here and there, but I'm ecxided for 1.1......

all in all I'm pretty happy with my choice.......it's probably the best one out there right now, as rough as it might be...

So if we were still on 1.0 or 1.0 with a small bugfix patch you would be happier? If you don't want the continuous updates then the 1.0 feature set is very stable in version 1.07 or so, you could always go back to that while you wait for 1.1. I'm sure you'd miss all the new stuff though.

You say you want more continuous info-updates... I find Chaos Group to be the most informative developer I have ever dealt with. They gladly share info that even betatesters of other sofware might not get. This is on a personal basis though, and I suppose a publicly available feature list/roadmap on the VRay site could help make this info available to everybody more easily.

Personally I don't have many issues with VRay, sure there will always be new things that would be nice to have, but there are no bugs that are bothering me at the moment, and the workflow suits me. And I find that whenever I run into a bug, Vlado fixes it pretty quickly (I've recieved a new build less than an hour after reporting a bug once) if you email them about it.

I have to agree that they need to work on basic functions for this to be a true production renderer.

MAX6 has been out for almost 6 months and we still don't have DR. How can this be? I can't believe that a customer should be required to use an old product to get basic functions. Or how about the smoothing problem! I consider this a MAJOR problem that I should not have to "find a workaround" too.

Are we MAX6 users destined to wait until some big product show comes around before we get these basic functions? I understand they are very busy, but when a company grows as fast as Chaos apparently has, HIRE MORE PEOPLE.

Please understand I believe vray to be a good product or I would not have purchased it, but with the basic problems that exist I don't believe it is an excellent product, not yet. Also, I personally don't care what the other guys are doing, I bought vray. I care about what they are doing to improve their products primary functions that were there when I bought it.

Fix the basic problems first and then expand the functions or port to other platforms.

the most annoying thing are theses windows that pop up and ask me to send a email to vlado "unhandled exception: irradiance map last marker is at ... blah bla...".

no more new features... make it more stable.. my no. 1 on the wishlist.

honest vray is a great renderer but to include BRAZIL in this list makes no sense.

BRAZIL is by far the most production ready renderer you can buy for 3d max.

i get a error message from vray once a day, at least.
if i would get a dollar for every email i should send to vlado i would not work anymore.

vray has great features and it´s fast, but it´s not very stable.

btw: when will this QUOTE problem of the forum fixed or im doing something wrong?

Long John: do you send the email, with enough info to help squash the bug? That would help getting the bug fixed.
