    I've always wanted a procedural text map...similar to the text spline object in 3D Max, but output as a bitmap.

    It'd be great to have options such as text color, background color, font, size, etc..

    This could be used for diffuse maps, bump maps, etc... Could be very handy!

      You can use photoshop for your noise maps or blend maps too, but its much more convenient to do it inside max, and it gives you better interactivity.

        This has been done in renderman, Haven't used it myself but I gather there are some potential downsides. I think it falls into that's a neat idea now lets get back to work category...

          it's been a long time i'm dreaming of something like this

          It would be so great to have a spline base projection type on geometry that could be used as black/white mask for composite map for example...
