  • Chromatic Aberration

    Hey guys & girls,

Just a thought for the "photorealists" out there, I would love to see a chromatic aberration function in the VRayPhysicalCam/Bokeh rollout. I know every lens manufacturer strives to get rid of CA, but the fact is we add it (sometimes too much) in CG to add that final touch of realism, and to have it render straight out of the box would be fantastic.

Just wondered if it would be too difficult to implement, or perhaps too computationally expensive. I wouldn't even mind if VRay faked it, because that's what we do in post anyway. As long as it looks good!

Use dispersion glass in front of camera
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Tbh it sounds bananas to me to have this type of thing in the main render - get it wrong and it's burnt into your image. Even a free compositor like the one in blender can do it and I reckon it's a far better method!

Second that. CA is a very subjective (unwanted!) artifact anyways and a fad that will pass imo .....

Well its hard one... It would be nice to have it as a pass I guess or some soft of post effect that we can tune afterwards... the 2D bokeh can be good but nothing beats physics...
