  • "SampleRate" kind of renderelement with progressive renderer

    Hi,

I understand that a real SampleRate element wouldnt make too much sense for the progressive rendering, but what I rather want to know is if there would be a possibility of showing the finished and nonfinished render regions in the framebuffer as render element. I see it is possible as an overlay over the beauty with that one checkbox, but a render element showing it would be nice so the data is not in the final beauty render.
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
    64GB RAM

Already done for the service pack - the progressive renderer fills in the sample rate render element just like the bucket renderer.

    Best regards,

Okay but that does not let me know where it's finished and where not, right? Just where it has done how much.

It shows pixels that are still active differently to the ones that are already done. Is that what you mean?

Oh, yeah that's actually exactly what I mean. I propably just misunderstood you then. And propably my comparison with the SampleRate element was not the best one.
          Nice!

Vlado, sorry to ask a dumb question as the answer will proabably be "when it is ready" but how far away is the service pack?

A few weeks away, I hope. Most of the features that we planned are completed, with the exception of a few relatively easy things that I promised and now I have to sit down and do them

If you want to try it out, you can always email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com

              Best regards,

                Thanks Vlado,
I will grab it from the nightly build location

As long as the DR ports stay on 20204 I will be happy with the service pack!
