  • VFB Render Region "Everything but..."

    Hi,

An "invert" checkbox would be nice for the VFB render region
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
    64GB RAM

Could you please advise why would you need that feature?
There is a render mask that you can use if you want to render a specific geometry: http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY3/Render+Mask

Sitation would be we make final render settings for a large image, then we test once critical region to see if GI settings, AA settings etc are all fine, some region where there is everything of both.
We rendered that region and it took some time and we were okay with it. Now to save that time we would just enable the "Everything but region" checkbox and render the rest of the image.

Of course this is a convenience feature, nothing critical, but could save some time since we don't need to rerender the already rendered region or proceed to go into PS and make a mask.

Also: The "Selected" Rendermask feature doesn't work properly when you got lights in front of the geometry. THey are cut out.

Yes, we are aware of this issue. Still not quite aware of what the solution would be though Hopefully we'll think of something.

          Best regards,
          Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

                I just got another scenario:
You got your product in the middle of the screen, rendered it and then want to lookdev the environment. So I mark the produkt which takes quite some render time, check the "invert" checkbox and then can lookdev the environment without influencing the product.
