  • Cancel writing Output

    Hi all

    If I set "Separate Render Channels", and then want to cancel during a highres render with many elements, I can't cancel when the save starts and have to wait for all the files to save

    Would be nice to not only cancel the render during the render, but also cancel during the writing image phase...

    Its taking about 15 minutes to save 18 channels at 5K, I can't remember it ever taking this long

      Yes saving out a lot of elements at 5k always took a lot of time, and 15 minutes is usual for us.
      That's why I asked few years ago to have the saving multi-threaded.
      It did helped but not that much.
      For my memories, it only help when using the VFB as when you render with max VFB, Vray doesn't handle the saving process and thus can not implement the multi threading speed up.

        Hello,

        We've added the option to cancel the output writing when using the "Separate Render Channels" option. This change should be present in the coming service pack.

        About the multithreaded saving - when we save the images we actually go through max but it turned out that parts of that code is not thread safe and there are crashes from time to time. So we had to disable the multithreaded saving.
