  • VrayMtl - reflection: Affect Channels -> selected elements only

would it be possible to have an extra option in the affect channels dropdown to
    affect 'selected only'

for instance, I am using an extraTex element with a VrayMultiSubTex set to ObjectID 1 with only 1 subtex with in it a VrayComptex (substract A - B)
with source a being a white vraycolor map and b being a vrayDirt set to reflection occlusion.

when rendered, this element gives me a mask of ONLY 3d reflected objects.

BUT, it only works when the vrayMtl affect channels for reflection is set to ALL CHANNELS
I only want it to affect this specific element, else my alpha is screwed up.

so being able to select which elements to affect would help me a great deal.

I might be missing the entire meaning of 'affect channels though', taking it to mean elements.

Would a 'Solid Alpha Render Element' help?

I've thought about it; it's very easy technically, but I'm not sure how to describe this as UI. Perhaps a button that brings up a list of the render elements with a checkbox next to each one?

      Best regards,

Dave, not sure how that would work.

Vlado, I think that would be the best way.

Should it include just the elements that you have in the scene or all the different types of render elements so once you've set it when you add a render element you don't have to go into materials to fix?

I think it should work on the elements that are in the scene ...
not sure how it would work, but for instance, you might want it to affect one element, but not another of the same type of element.
            does that make sence ?

so best would be a pop-up floater with checks for which elements to affect/not affect.
