  • Omit Render Elements from Corrections Control

So since moving to vray 3.0 (which is great by the way, congratulations for that!) we have developed a slightly different workflow.

Instead of using reinhard burn, we are using linear workflow and tweaking the burn and exposure controls in the frame buffer.

This works great until it comes to batch rendering overnight and the RGB multimats come back with the exposure shift, burn and sometimes curves baked into them.

It would be great if we could omit the corrections from the render elements.

    Regards, Dan

Hm, right. Will need to solve that. Do you think exposure should be applied (it's just a multiplier anyways), or we shouldn't apply anything?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

As we save out in 16bit EXR (32bit is generally too heavy to work with) it would be better not to apply anything, as attempting to pull the masks back in Photoshop can mess up the edges.

But then I think in some scenarios you would want your other passes, reflection, diffuse, lighting etc. to be affected. So I suppose a per element option would be better.

I don't know how much of a headache that would be to implement?

      Best regards,
      Dan

P.S. I should point out that AO (using extratex & dirt ) and Zdepth passes certainly do need excluding from the corrections too.

        Hi Vlado,

Do you think this is something that may be resolved any time soon?

+1 for this. I am using the Highlight Burn function in the VFB a lot lately, very useful feature. Problem is that it is also applied to the multimattes. So the values are off afterwards. Would be nice to exclude them.

cc should affect only RGB element by default to keep things simple.

                Any news about this?
I'd love that the correction controls are not applied on the multimatte elements!
Please Vlado go for it please!!

                Thanks

                  Hi,

Unfortunately not yet, but I hope to be able to fix it for the next major update.
