  • VFB Background excluded from rest of controls

    Hi all

Would be nice if the VFB Background image can be shown as loaded, and excluded from any of the other controls like exposure, white balance, curves etc.

I'm matcing colours, lights and shadow intensity from an aerial shot, which help mid project for comping into the actual shot later. If the background keeps changing as I'm doing adjustments in the VFB, I'm never seeing the correct backplate.

Sure I can do it all later in post, but it will be much easier and QUICKER if I can SEE the "correct" colours and shadows etc from the start.
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

I just checked and seems it is like that already,

    BUT

When I load the image in, it displays washed out asif its double gamma

Fileingamma and out is on 2.2 so its not that. The image displays fine as a texture and also in windows, ps etc. Just in the VFB it's weird

I have a icc file loaded into the VFB for my monitor, so the background image SHOULD NOT be excluded from that, but SHOULD be excluded from everything else
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

OK if I load the image directly into the VFB and not via the VFB Background image, it still displays washed out so this looks more like a bug...

This file is a TIFF and it displays correct in various other applications and also in max it displays fine, just the VFB is confused for some reason.

If I load a random jpg, that displays fine however. Strange

This just got weirder. If I convert the TIFF to a JPG and load that into the VFB, then its fine.

Hmm spoke too soon. The jpg loaded in, displays about 15% brighter, than the one in the Max environment. In Color mapping, "Affect Background" is unticked

The VFB expects that the sRGB option is enabled (as it should be) and will always remove sRGB color correction from 8-bit file formats when loading them (JPG, PNG, TIFF etc), either for background or just normal load. OpenEXR files will be read linear.

            Best regards,
