    Psyops has posted details on their very clever multi-channel coverage map shader/extractor. Would love to have this in Vray natively.

    Looks very interesting. I've always liked the coverage channels the RPF format used, and how it integrated in Combustion back then. If I remember correctly it also allowed for less artifacts when applying depth of field blur in post.

      It is interesting, but less powerful and more complicated than deep images. If deep images can do this and much more, why would you go through such a complicated workflow? Is image disk size the only reason?

            It's often an unnecessary overhead. Deep demands more storage, processing and is less responsive.
