  • Material ID, Rendering ID and Object ID in RT

Hey, I know I have asked for this before and I know it is on the works. I'm about to do the great switch to having RT on production but those Render ID and Material ID passes are key to my production. Does anyone have a workaround until Vlado and team have gotten this implemented? Or maybe, Vlado if this is available on the nightly builds, could I get access to this? Maybe someone has worked out a script or something?

    Hi Alex,

I suppose that you are using RT in GPU mode ?
We are still working on the support for those render elements. Will keep you posted for any news.

Yes, RT in GPU mode. Looking forward for those elements.

The ObjectID and MaterialID render element will be support by the RT-GPU in the next SP.

          Hi Zdravko,

Material ID apparently needs some support from 3DS Max. Object ID and Render ID, I have brought it up before, but the edges don't smooth perfectly like in Advanced (on nightly builts). Let me know if you need me to send something over so you can see what I mean.

Could you please send an example?

Material ID should work if you set the ID from here. We have a note to make it work from the V-Ray material ID UI as well.
I agree that the edges in those render elements look better in Adv, when it is using the bucket image sampler (they are not really anti-aliased, since it will not be correct doing that, but they are not that fuzzy). The progressive image sampler in the Adv however renders them like in RT GPU. I am not sure if we will be able to fix that very soon, but I will make a note about it.
Thanks for the feedback again !

Thanks Blago, I'll try the Material ID solution you mention and I'll give you back my feedback on this. I'm glad you are taking care about the edges on the ID's, I think that would help in making them more useful in the future. Now that I've a few more minutes during the day, I can give more feedback as VRay progresses.
