Check for available DR server BEFORE saving

Is it possible to have VRay check for DR server availability first, before saving the file when DR is enabled?

Background:
I use DR but sometimes the DR slave is doing something else and I switched off the DR server. When I have a big file it saves forever and it doesn't even need to since the DR server isnt available anyways.

I know it's a minor issue but I think it's not difficult to just reverse that process and check first before saving and I don't have to switch on/off DR everytime

I like this idea, same scenario, would save tonnes of time. Also means you could just leave DR switched on forever and not forget to turn it on when you send hi-res to backburner overnight.......
