Vray Scene Converter - check box for material conversion
Will it convert all of the Autodesk materials, especially the ones that come in from Revit files?
No, we've never had conversion from Autodesk materials. Is this important to have for your workflow, keeping in mind that such conversion will be very basic?
Please, Yes Please, can I say Please again, at the moment I run the converter then manually run through all the the scene materials to convert the autodesk materials. As you can guess for complex models this can be a very time consuming task, in some cases around an hour or more.
We do use a paid converter, but only have one license on one of team member machine, so if anyone else needs to do a conversion he has to be interrupted, not always ideal
I would recommend looking into the 2017 Scene Converter. Basically it is maxscript functions that define the to and from for various parts of the scene. I am looking into that now for Vray and it is just a matter of converting value from the source material to VrayMtl.
BTW, 2017 Scene Converter already supports Autodesk to Physical Material.
