  • Separate local subdivision for material editor

Would it be possible to have a separate subdivision/quality setting for the material editor only?
As from the recent vray builds where the the automatic subdivision is enabled by default it takes quite some time to render a preview in the material editor if working with complex ggx shaders. I can always enable "use local subdiv" and set manually the material reflection/refraction subdivision to get a faster preview, but it would be nice if there were a separate "general" setting that would affect only the preview in the material editor.

Anyway the shaderball can use the progressive sampler instead? Especially when you have a magnify window open to look at the shader ball at a bigger size, this would be very useful.

It would be even better if you could assign Vray RT for the shader ball!

Yes, for the moment only in 2017. And there is more work to be done for sure.

This is a true preview rendering !!!

ChaosGroup should separate the project of V-Ray RT GPU.
I think that the preview which is not equal at all is unnecessary.

I hope this could give to the blender users the opportunity to have a rendered preview like Cycles..

                        Good job Chaos

This is the goal, yes - to have the regular V-Ray on the one hand, and V-Ray GPU on the other; with both renderers usable in both production and interactive mode.
