is it possible to add glare/glow/light/bloom effects direct to lights source during render ? not in post after render ...
    something similar to FStorm ....

    thank you

I would love real time bloom and glare effects as well as proper IPR rendering with the Vray bucket and progressive engine.

I sedcond that, the same way it work in Maxwell would be fantastic.. and I don't like then glow of vray .. it blur the whole image! instead of just where it's glowing..

V-Ray is the best but there are those exact things I'm truly dying for

I wish there were a 'Proper' thread where 1 suggestion per type is expressed from the V-Ray users. Having a standard thread is a place where there can be duplicate ideas. So my other suggestion is a dedicated suggestion thread where ideas are registered and the Chaos group people can update it with responses like, considered, in dev, complete, rejected, and so on.

        Priority
        - 01 - True PBR rendering for primary engines (I think this should be number 1!)
        - 02 - Clear coat option for V-Ray materials
        - 03 - Real-time lens effects like, bloom, glare....even iRay has it in Substance painter
        - 04 - Rapid scroll through luts with mouse scroll

Also please make sure you test the new Pixar 21 materials and make sure V-Ray is better or just as good

Glare and bloom are already in Vray.

If you're using max 2017 the new physical material has a clear-coat parameter, for me it should always be a layered shader so you can do the 2 layer bump correctly.

Yes but the OP wants it realtime during render. Not afterwards as a post effect

Yes, yes, we all purchased V-Ray (some of us with multiple licences) and must pressure chaos group to deliver new and amazing shit all the time! lol ~ work harder! ~ no but seriously, V-Ray is incredibly good and its also a bit expensive so I hope they are onto these small but very important things. Something like proper IPR, and a clear-coat and the things we discussed (Realtime camera effects easy to use like in Substance painter) should be addressed asap instead of them branching out to support so many other software packages. I hope the wide spread of supporting many-platforms isn't taking away from the depth that can be achieved with focus. I think maybe that's why I feel a bit of a loss in momentum.

Also the new Renderman 21 came out which is really different, the documentation looks great, I would like to test and compare renderers again to see how they go. I want V-Ray to kick ass because I purchased it and therefore I'm invested in it. I hope Chaos group continue to have that competitive fire in their spirit and continue punching above their weight.

I'm up for this as well Although, I do not find it a super priority, I would like to have real-time bloom and glare.
It helps a lot with stylising the image and getting the desired effect.

Dear op: Why do you want it?

I can't really think why it would be better or why it would matter to have this feature.

For me, it would help to see the relation of glows/bloom between different light sources with different light intensities and to get it right 1st time. For example a car's headlights shining right into the camera will be fastly different from a candle on a patio in the background. If you could see this during render, there will be less iterations. Yes we're suppose to know the light values so it shouldn't make a difference, but that's just one example. My scenes are often fastly more complex with hundreds of different light sources
                          Kind Regards,
                          Morne

Main problems of current LensFX are the way they are applied and the way they look. Interactivity is not that much of an issue for me.

They are just blended over image, instead of added, so it's impossible to get a glare of reasonable intensity without making your entire image too dreamy.

There is also missing relation between hotspot intensity and glare size. Glare size is constant, so faint light source and super strong light sources will create glares of different intensities, but identical size, which looks very unrealistic.

Lastly, there is some odd lens grating effect that can not be turned off, which often creates unnatural looking patterns on glare streaks.

All together, LensFX are definitely not a glare you could use for your final image if you are after photorealism. They will always look fake no matter what. On the other hand, glares in Octane, Corona, Fstorm, or even Mental Ray are sophisticated enough that they are usable for photorealistic images/animations.
