It isn't the first time that I selected only calculate GI and forgot to switch it of afterwards. Wouldn't it be more simple to make a button in the GI rollout with "Calculate GI" ?

It would be easier but not really necessary, its like forgetting to turn on AA, i geuss im just used it now as it becomes second nature like everything else.
