I would absolutely love a more robust web forum. It would be awesome to be able to drag and drop images; this upload one-by-one is so 90's. Maybe Taptalk enabled instead of the archaic Forumrunner. I think the industry knows that the Chaos Group forum is second to none, as far as user talent and support, but you wouldn't know it by the forum UI.

The big issue I would think is to be able to migrate the current DB of the forum to a new one.
I remember 8-10 years ago when the forum migrated to the current one we lost all the previous db and it hurt as all the previous knowledge was lost.
If they can keep it, I'd would love to have a more 2016 forum UI.

I have a little bit of experience with databases and as long as the fields match, you can import.

Now, most people access the web from their mobile device and they are prompted to a plugin that is broken. I think now it is more than having something better; it just has to work first.
