  • Dislike VFB History Window Behavior

    Hi,

As you add images to the history window, it places it at the top of the list and changes it's numerical value to 1 and incrementing all the rest. To me, this is the most backwards behavior and is confusing. I'd rather it label the first image I put in the history window as #1, the second #2, etc, because that is the order the test renders where made. Can we get this backwards behavior changed?

    thx

That would seem pretty logical indeed - good suggestion

But by allowing them to be numbered 1, 2, 3, rather than 3, 2, 1 we can just press 1, 2, etc. to bring up that image. This would limit the usefulness of this IMO as we'd be limited to having no more than 9 images in the saved buffer.

I'm not suggesting changing the keyboard behavior, but rather if you press 1 then it opens the first image you saved into the history buffer, not the last one you added to the history buffer, as it does now. The listing order to me is just backwards, and the overlaid numbers on the thumbnails just compounds the confusion.

But this could result in possibly not having a quick shortcut for the latest image which seems weird to me. Personal preferences I guess.

Why just not have a shortcut like up arrow and down arrow to scroll between the history? Instead of being limited by 1 2 3 etc. But i agree with the reversed numbers and never seemed very logical to me either.

The idea of 1-9 shortcuts are to compare quickly 2 or more images, they are not designed to browse the entire history or to show the number of the images in the VFB history.
The reversed numbering is indeed not very logical if one doesn't use them as intended.
We'll keep the things as they are until we got a a better idea how to improve the current situation, reversing the numbering might be useful for one but inconvenient for other and in addition it will work up to 9 images, if more images are added the same re-numbering will happen if we would like to have access to the recent images.

Also to add to my request, I'd like to be able to associate written notes with each numbered image in the VFB. Currently, since the numbering changes with each image added, that's not possible, so I can't keep track of what changes I made to each rendered test image. I don't use the comment feature, since it's small, and I'd rather keep the render time it shows as is.
