  • VRayDistanceTex with direction control

Is this possible. I use distance text quite often on sea scenes and to create dirt around objects but it would be good to have direction. Not sure if it is possible with this shader. I think you could create simple wakes with this additional option. Maybe the direction could also have a separate distance parameter to indicate how far it should stretch or maybe the direction multiplier could do that.

Edit: possibly with a divergence control too

I'm not sure I understand... can you post some diagrams or examples of how you want it to look?

    Best regards,

Maybe I'm talking rubbish. I realise this is quite similar to what vraydirt can do but this shader is a lot quicker.

The directional one at the bottom left is directional with divergence.

And the ability to use a material as the distance tex object so that all objects with that material are automatically included in the object set.

Yes, I see. It's actually maybe not too difficult... I need to play with the code a bit. Would it be enough to specify the direction as three float values for X/Y/Z? Should it be world space or object space?
