  • Using Denoiser for fireflies?

Is it possible with the current algorithm? I know about max ray intensity, but we rely on GI caustics etc and want a very close to reality result and we mostly leave it off or at very high values.
Currently the denoise does not a very good job at reducing fireflies, since it is of course not intended to be used that way.
I was wondering if it is possible to have a firefly mode for the denoiser?
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
    64GB RAM

+1 That would be really helpful! Sometimes the image is overall very smooth but there are some pesky fireflies still lingering here and there so you need to keep rendering more when it could be dealt with quickly and save lots of render time or post work.

I think it'd be a good pimpin' for the Denoiser. Otherwise - do you know any good plugins which can do that with EXR files?

You can try Arion FX for Photoshop.
