  • IPR & progressive image sampler

    Hello,

Slowly starting to use IPR in production, and really delighted with it Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel IPR more efficient when Image Sampler is set to Progressive mode instead of Bucket. So would it be possible to switch automatically on Progressive when using IPR ? and then switch back to Bucket mode when IPR is stopped ?

I ask this because we always use Bucket image sampler for final renderings (we need to use PSDManager, so bucket mode is mandatory), and using IPR makes us switching manually to Progressive each time, and then switch back to Bucket mode when we're done using IPR.

    What do you think ?

    Thanks.

+1 for this. And most of the time I forget to switch for progressive for IPR. Need to stop the IPR and start it again.

If I'm not wrong I'm quite sure that they'll introduce something similar in the nex service pack.

Yes, I'll be adding an option to use progressive sampling for IPR. Just not sure what particular settings to use for the sampler settings (time limit/noise threshold). Should I have separate controls for this as well?

        Best regards,

I am not sure, but it might be a good idea to just let IPR render as long as the user wants to. Like setting both values to 0. I mean IPR is a preview tool, not used for final images.

Exactly - it has to be as reactive as possible. I'm already under IPR's charm
