  • Include Exclude list - ability to pick from viewport!

    Hi all

This is something that would be AWESOME to me. Whenever there's an include/exclude list, for example in the scene's material override, or in the lights, it would be GREAT if we could pick things from viewport. Deadlines are becoming tighter and there's not always time to go through the list of everything in the scene everytime, even if you know what it is called. Often working from 3rd party files, you DON'T know what something is called.

Anyway, for quick tests I just want to quickly exclude things from override material and just pick a chair or table while I can see it in viewport. Much faster than trying to find it in a list of million objects named object1 object2 object3 etc.
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

I usually create a selection set of everything I want to add to an include/exclude list and just pick the selection set in there. Naming the selection sets accordingly (for example "Excluded from VrayLight01" or "Included in VRayToon") helps you stay on top of things too.

Yes but for quick tests thats not quick enough. I already have plenty selection sets in the scene

This is a 3dsmax feature request, but there's a few places where VRay allows you to pick light for include/excludes but the dialog for max only ever shows geometry. So a VRay Specific Include/Exclude Dialog would be very useful, but again I've been asking 3dsmax to change this for years... They saw a demo I made for a procedural include/exclude list, Tom Hudson was very impressed, but doesn't look like it's going to be included any time soon sadly, not a sexy feature...
