  • 2 sided materials

    hi,
I use rhino and I export my project in dwg, 3ds, iges...and to use vray materials I have to flip normals because "2 sided" doesn't work fine as with standard materials.
Really I'm fed up to change the normals of hundred objects.

why standard materials haven't this kind of limitation?

    bye

I think it has something to do with the fact that VRay is a raytracer. Even with scanline I think it's a bad idea not to have organized normals. Whenever you have to check 2 sided in scanline you're basically doubling your poly count at render time.

      hi jon,
maybe the polycount is double but to have the option "2 sided" it will be a good thing.

      thanx

Yes it's a wish I know I also forgot to mention that in the past some have used the Double Sided material type. Not sure if it still works but worth a try.

The 2-sided option works with a standard material if there are no smoothing groups
