  • HDR map preview

would it be possible to have a preview of the HDR map when you are choosing one [like the max's default one erm I mean splutterfish's one]

mainly because windows doesnt have previews for hdr's like it does for other images in general
so you cant just whip into explorer and have a quick look at em

    cheers!

      Hi all !

I have tested new hdr skies probes from Mr Debevec.
As it was mentionned before, a preview would be interesting....

      I try to explain:
The hdr sky images are well mapped on the background in the environnement slot when you use "Vray hdri" material with "angular map".
The problem is that, you cannot act on the white point as you could do with the splutterfish plugin.
Moreover, if you use the splutterfish plugin in the environnement slot, the image is not matching the environnement backgound.

Another point is that you need to place a direct light where the sun is in the hdr sky. This operation is a bit difficult without seeing a dome with
the hdr sky well mapped over it.

      In conclusion, 2 things :

It would be great to have a way of previewing the hdr environnement.
It would be great to be able to act on the white point in the "Vrayhdr" material.

      Hope i was clear enough.
      Thank you
      Gael

If I recall correctly, if you want your HDRI one stop down, you just divide the multiplier by 2. Unless of course you mean something different.

You can put the HDR map inside an Output map, that gives you more control over RGB levels, shifts etc.
