  • Default Material subdivs to 8 when "Use local subdivs" is off

I'm currently re-opening some legacy scenes for archiving reasons and I noticed that back when you had to bump your material subdivs up to much higher values yourself the material previews in the material editor render a lot longer (of course). It seems no matter the state of the "use local subdivs" checkbox, the material editor always renders with the subdivs the user put in. It would be good to have it behave differently:

Either make the material subdivs use a hardcoded subdiv value if "use local subdivs" is off (like 8 or 16 or even a user defined one)
Or make the material preview use adaptive subdivs maybe with a lower quality threshold.
Or let me change the greyed out subdivs field for material preview reasons in the editor, but keep ignoring it when rendering.
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
    64GB RAM

Interesting idea. Maybe there should be a switch in Vray's settings that allows to change subdivs per material even if "Use local subdivs" is off and also an option to globally override them with a user set value.

A note about that has been added into our system. Thank you very much for the report.
