I am not sure what to call this request -- but I do see it as some sort of a wrapper. Perhaps an expansion of the wrapper already there.
The idea is this: I have built up a collection of high quality reusable materials. They have composite maps with many layers and only some of these layers need adjusted between jobs. I'd like a material wrapper where we could essentially drag the important controls or maps into the main top level interface (perhaps pulling them from the material navigator -- or Nodes in slate).
Then I would have my killer asphalt material for instance, but only the main adjustable features are provided at the top level. For instance I have a cracks layer that I enable for bump and diffuse when the road is weathered. I might want overall bump strength to be adjusted. I might want to reveal the solid Color layer that I use in the diffuse to create subtle color casts on the asphalt color.
But I don't need all the glossiness, and other diffuse composite layers to be readily available.
This is really a job for Autodesk I think... but they develop so slowly and so poorly when it comes to new requested features that this seems like Chaos could do it better and faster.
If what I'm requesting is too much, then how about just adding a Notes rollout to the Vray material where a material creator can let a new user know which controls are most likely to need adjustment.
