I'm not sure I understand very well. Can you give me some examples?

    Best regards,

An old request, but I found a good example of what I wanted to say!

Blender's "Dynamic Paint" is its function.

I am missing something: couldn't it be achieved animating the distanceTex parameters?
Should it have a decay built in, is what you're suggesting, to the distance?

What I want is that the effect of VRayDistanceTex can be faded out based on time.
If the fade out time is infinite, it will be painted.

i undertstand exactly what you are after and ive wanted it for a long time..sometime back in the day i think i even made a similar request.

Skid marks/tyre tracks/damage/wet maps/light trails and lots of other cool stuff that is very fiddly to achieve in max could be achieved if the distance tex had some kind of buffer recording earlier states. ive no idea how technically difficult it would be, but those blender videos show basically what is required..

looking for any easy way to do burnout / tire skids and came across this...was gonna use dist tex but no fade parameter.
how are other people doing this. i could use tyflow but was hoping for a simpler to implement on larger number of vehicles techniqyue

i note that madcar has a procedural skidmark map which (from the demo videos) looks quite cool... they have a discount at the mo and im considering purchasing for a project i have on..
