  • Feature Request: VRay for 3ds Max: VRayRemap

    Hello,

I would like for 3ds max users to have access to a remap node

you can see an example here and here

http://www.campi3d.com/External/Mari...tallation.html (Filters > Adjustment Layers > Set Range)

    http://docs.autodesk.com/SI/2015/ENU...presets131.htm

Its value remapping I dont think 3ds max has

    Thanks

    Steve ~

I am moving the thread to appropriate section of the forums.
3dsMax indeed doesn't have a Remap node or at least I don't know of existing of one.

Can you give us more information about it, what maps you would like to plug into it etc.
Did you think if something can be done with the existing 3dsMax maps and etc?

Here's a little more info on a remap function, in this case pitched as being part of a new color correction node:

Thank you for placing this post in the approreate place.

The suggestion from Neil is perfect and also very important. I would hope this gets implemented ASAP.

you can already remap with the output section of a bitmap, or putting your map in an output node, and then use the curve.
With 2 points only and linear interpolation, at least you can drive easily the min and max input and output, both above and below 0, using the horizontal and vertical axis respectively.
Maybe not as neatly packed, but the packaging is a minor nuisance, easily fixable encapsulating an output map into a new scripted ui.
