  • Minor but annoying installer issue

With the V-Ray (and Phoenix too) installer you are given the 'option' at the end to go to the website or not, well no matter what you choose it still opens a browser and tries. Is this going to be fixed at any point? Its just annoying as I don't let most of my slaves have access to the internet and only have access to the internal network and when they do try its a whole host of warnings and errors that pop up and it wastes time having to deal with all that crap.
    Cheers,
    -dave

Hi, currently there is a workaround for avoiding the website showing. The site will not be opened after the end of installation if you use the silent installation feature. There is more information about how to use it here:
      https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...t+Installation
Basically running the installer with -auto argument will install to the previous settings used for installation (or default if this is initial installation on the system) and will generate a configuration file that may be used later with -configfile=... and -gui=0 arguments.

Thanks but all too often things go sideways and I get nervous with silent installs because of the lack of feeback if something didn't install or uninstall properly. Today was a good example where I was updating one of my farms and one slave didnt uninstall the previous version properly and had to fix it manually.

If you omit the -quiet=1 argument (or explicitly add -quiet=0) the installer should output all performed operations similar to the GUI detailed output. Also, if a critical error occurred during install/uninstall the installation process will return non-zero value, which may be used by scripts for error indication.
