  • Ocean Shader for Adv and RT CUDA

I often have water in my archviz scenes and the best looking water shader I have seen so far is the Phoenix FD ocean texture. It would be amazing to have it in V-Ray Adv and RT (CUDA). Or something similar.

    Regards

As far as I know you can use the OceanTex with the trial of PheonixFD.
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
    64GB RAM

    DxDiag

Agree that it would be great if this was included in the standard install - always need to add the Phoenix demo to get that one map, and I'm sure many people aren't aware that it exists.

It would be great but it wouldn't make sense from a business standpoint. The way it currently is you know that the OceanTex is inside PhoenixFD, so you download the Demo (which is awesome by itself that you get the OceanTex for free) and thus get in touch with the product and are more likely to buy or remember when you need sim software from a trusted software company

But how do you know it's there? I'd imagine most people thinking to render a swimming pool would spend hours messing around with noise materials and getting frustrated, they wouldn't imagine that there would be an easy non sim solution with Phoenix. It's only when you've already played around with Phoenix that you know there is this handy texture that isn't connected to the sim bit.

For me that falls under knowledge you should aquire along the way of being a 3d artist. Wanna make something that has to do with water? Know what options there are in terms of specialized software.
