  • switching between RT and ADV won't refresh the settings

Well that is it. Would be cool, not have to save and load

I am a little confused by this. Since RT and Adv are quite different beasts, I'm not quite sure what you mean when you says, switching from RT to Adv, won't refresh the settings.

no no, i mean that when for example rendering on ADV, then swithc to RT, and then go back to ADV it resets the setting. And i dont know about other users but it tend to do this often, since we use both in the office. If not big problem to solve i think would be more comfortable.

You are right, this is a known issue that we have to fix in the Max integration. Although it might seems strange, it is a bit tricky to solve that, but there are plans for fixing it.

Now I understand what it is you were expecting to happen and what actually happens.. Personally, I use ADV and IPR (which by the way is fantastic, as unlike GPU, it isn't limiting the feature set available and whether you have an nvidia card or not, it's CPU based not GPU). So for me, Vray resetting stuff like that, isn't really a problem...After all , if I spent that long getting my Vray settings perfected, I would save them, before I went switching to RT, which is hardly time consuming

not really my case, we have lots of production, so i am setting up big scenes in ADV, then sending them to DR without using local host, so my PC free and since i have good GPU i do tests on there which is faster than IPR when you have spare GPU for viewport. We have lots of presets also but it is just annoying a bit to be looking for the one, since every project needs its own spec tweaking. I am not saying it is a disaster, just would be more comfortable for users using both engines.

So how about this. Just before you switch to RT, you could click a button that would save your Vray adv settings, temporarily for that session and on switching back, you click it again and your settings get restored. Would that be easier to implement, than messing about with Vray/Max integration.

yes but everytime i would do any change on my setting i would have to be saving those settings. it just fevered clicks and more comfortable cause you wouldn't have to mind it. Of course i know how to work around, but why not implement something when it be more convenient ?

well perhaps they could make it a setting in Vray that it temporarily saves it's settings, when you switch to RT, though I think having to just click a button, to temporarily save them (not permanently but ONLY for that particular session) is not exactly going to slow you down. I was not suggesting saving them permanently, this would only be for the particular session, you wouldn't have to give a name or anything, just click a button and switch to RT and when you come back, click it again.. making it automatic would be quicker yes, but I imagine would require a lot more work to implement
