  • VRay Scene

VRay scene is quite awesome, but maybe a way to make it so that I can position it on the scene a bit easier. To have all mesh show is perhaps not a good idea as it would defeat the purpose of VRay scene, but maybe there is a way to figure this out. The main thing is that I need to properly fit the vray scene to match something else and that point is not easily recognizable on the viewport, so I have to render it before I know if it is in the right place.

I thought Vray Scene / VrayScene, was a way to take a scene, created say in one vray compatible application for example Maya and import it, into say Max.. Why would you say to have all scene objects show, is perhaps not a good idea. Surely if someone sent you a vrayscene file, created in one program, for you to render in a different program, you would want to be able to see everything, exactly as it was... Something like this...

For a while there I thought you were confusing VrayScene with Vray Proxie, where you can convert an object into a vray proxie. and for that you can turn on show mesh, to help position it, then switch back to the proxie view

Also note that the VrayScene feature is still in development

Right, I used it as a way to do a full scene proxie and it works nicely, beautifully I must say. I was not aware that it was meant for interaction with Maya and other programs.

Actually this is one of the intended use cases. You are right that we need to make the viewport preview somewhat more useful.

        Best regards,

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
