Just an idea relating to the 'real sunlight' thread.
I think a script to be able to position a 'Target Directional Light' in accordance to 'dd/mm/yy' and timezone with automatically setting the target at '0' would be possible (I'm not sure how difficult.) The ability to adjust sunlight intensity (minus atmospheric cloud cover and particles of course) would be a preset. This is not much different than the Dreamscape interface as far as I could recall.
I came across this cool link which may give some idea how a scripted panel could be set up. Just pop in your location (or US zip code if you have one), time zone, and hit 'chart':
